Bring Kustom amplifiers BACK. When I was a kid I wanted one so bad but couldn't afford one. I will gladly part with one of my SS checks now that I am retired and can afford a killer amp. Blue sparkle please!!!!😀
I played in a band when I was 21 years old and the bass player had a Kustom amp, great, great product. Great story too.
The most popular band in our town had an all-Kustom backline. With sparkly tuck&roll and Nehru jackets, they had presence.
Carpenters and Osmonds also used black Naugahyde stacks. I had the black Naugahyde 2-10” combo and the charcoal 100 with 2-12” CTS. Great amps
wife and I saw them a bunch in Columbia Mo -Loved them !
The glory days! I remember earlier evolutions of this band, but don't always remember being at the shows...
Our bass player had a Kustom 200 which sounded real nice in the day. Unfortunately for our band, we bought one of their PA systems. Nothing sounds worse than 3 part harmony coming through a clipping sound system. :(
Love this band 😊
I could listen to these two for hours
Kustom amps had a sound of it's own. We had two of them both of them Bass amps. I remembered they came with a life time warranty we bought them from Sam Ash Brooklyn.
I'm still rockin my Red 200 Cabinet, I love it
This Sunday go to the Church of your choice... ~barflySue the₩ildTyp£!!!
I was just saying to myself, "I'd like to "grassify" De Do Do Do. (I'm a mando player) Great goofy minds think alike! Great job, Stumpwater.
👏
Gary...sounding good, looking good!❤ (Cool, tight band.)
I grew up in KC in the 60's. All the local bands used Kustom Amps. One buddy of mine played keyboards in a group. We lived on the edge of a large park on the East Side. The band would set up on the patio behind his house and blast away at full volume. I'm sure you could hear them for miles. We would buy speaker cabs and speakers from McGee Radio in downtown KC for our Hi-Fi setups. You could get anything you needed there. Those WERE the days.
Yeah, their new amplifier that came out a couple years ago is always out of stock
Loved those old amps, sometimes I rehearse in a room with about 8 Kustom Amps and cabs in there. A collector owns the place.
That was a LONG time ago. We performed this and other Stumpwater arrangements at the now defunct Cowboy Palace in Olathe, Kansas. And on a side note, our bass player at that time was Mark Mohling.
The best to you and your family Norm! A long time ago but never forgotten. Larry Brewer
Really respect them after using a 50 year old 25 watt. Don't change speakers!
Mike Campbell used one on the Tom Petty ‘Echos”recording…I believe it may be the first sound you hear starting the record. He also was playing the Kustom guitar in the Last DJ video.
Gary, I'm a fan. Hope you are well. Hey, to Joe.
Thank you so much for this! I am building a wifi LANC remote and despite having found almost all of the function codes by trial and error, I was still looking for the gain/gain sel codes. It's harder when you don't have the remote but now thanks to you I got them.
This post on LANC codes I made exactly 10 years ago today, has finally found one person in all of RUclips kingdom that has an interest. Glad you got some benefit out of it. I would be very interested to learn more about your project.
@@WeWereYoungandCrazy RUclips's magic! I am running a web server on an ESP8266 that transmits to the camera the LANC codes it receives :)
I have two Kustom B-series from 1968 and one C-series from 1969-70. B-series is THE sound. C- is a little thin.
Great band, great song. Jim Wert a fantastic bass player.
Ty Tabor brought me here. Sounds a little like Elvis Costello meets Joe Jackson.
Used to see them at The Blue Note in Columbia MO. 1984?
I am using a kustom amp for my new single... Too much low end and also too bright.. Turn low and high down to 0 and turn the mid a fraction.. Turn gain down to 0... With out eq it's perfect for recording... Throw everything up to normal levels in low mid and high and it sounds great live .. Its the KGA10FX with KS6 little speaker
Now I want a big fat blonde…
Junk amps is all they are. Ugly and they never caught on.
I attended an estate sale couple weeks ago in Overland Park, KS. I could see in the advance promotion there were an unusual number of Kustom amps and speaker enclosures. And when I arrived at the actual sale I found dozens of Kustom PA systems of different colors and sizes. Then I learned it had apparently belonged to Budd Ross family members. It gave me chills just thinking that this might be all that was left of what was once a very large and successful enterprise. RIP Budd.
Heard Ty Tabor from King's X talking about them and had to check them out. Apparently they used open for them back in the day.
PRAY FOR ISRAEL. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS AND ROSE AGAIN FROM THE DEAD. WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE YOUR PLACE IN HIS HOUSEHOLD? THEN PLEASE REPENT OF ALL YOUR SINS TODAY AND SURRENDER YOUR ENTIRE LIFE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. NOBODY IS OUT OF THE CANDIDACY FOR BECOMING A CHRISTIAN.
James Jamerson used a Sparkle Blue Kustom Amp when he played live.
Ha ha in the late 60's here in LA my band played the teen fair and for 2 years played in the kustom amp booth so i remember these amps well cheers
I have seen much better, Rain, BeatleBeat, Tribute....voices and harmonization just not right. Good for evening out though.
I have Kustom pa amps that were built in the late 70’s, and I still use them. Tough stuff!!
Refreshing and very nice. Never heard og them before, so thanx a million for sharing.
They were gaudy looking and sounded terrible . Lot of output and knobs , no tone mostly used by country players
Stop whining.
Thank you for posting all these found memories!!! BTW im the Big Fat Blond they sang about here... L❤L ~ barflySue
these amps always sounded so "warm" and "tube-ey"
Uterly fascinating. Thank you!
Kustom Quad stack is the only amp I use live, and n the studio I use a 30watt lead Kustom amp, sometimes I just use the 30 watt to play live and people always ask me what I’m using... Dream is to have a special Kustom amp made for me and the metal music I make but don’t think they make any amps anymore.....
Cool video. Cool amps.
Don’t these amps notoriously suck moose balls?
not nearly as much as your avatar
@@WeWereYoungandCrazy wow. Was that a attempt at humor? What’s you fucking problem? I asked a legitimate question and you obviously got butt hurt. You’re very sensitive about equipment you have nothing to do with. Or maybe you do. Whatever. Just another dick on the internet. And those amps do notoriously suck, I just wanted maybe a rebuff how they don’t. Instead I got some dope. Good luck with that. And my avatar is a HR Ginger painting that’s been adored by thousands. You got bad taste too. That explains why you like that amp. Have a good one weasel.
CCR made the kustom amp an legend
Had 2 stacks 400s loved em..
They are gooood!
In the mid to late60's, our garage band replaced our Sunn amps Kustom dual cabinet 200's in silver sparkle! They were stellar performers for many years of travel around OHIO, INDIANA & MICHIGAN!! GREAT SOUND & FANTASTIC STAGE PRESENCE!
I remember the local music store where I grew up had Kustom amps. I’d go in on Saturdays just to look at them. I can’t tell you anything else they had there!
